More About Eva Mendez

More About Eva Mendez

Dropping out of school soon after being randomly discovered by an agent, Mendes appeared in a few made-for-television productions and hammed it up with Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan in A Night at the Roxbury before being cast in a prominent role in Urban Legends: Final Cut. Working against typecasting despite her teen horror resumé, Mendes next took roles in Exit Wounds, Training Day, and All About the Benjamins. Mendes next began work on a children's book titled Crazy Leggs Beshee in which she wanted to introduce art, history, vocabulary, and values to children in a fun and easily comprehendable medium.

Thanks giving with Britney and the kids stay at the back of the car

Thanks giving with Britney and the kids stay at the back of the car

Britney Spears has been banned from driving with her young sons in the same car after her ex-husband Kevin Federline's attorney called an emergency court hearing to question her road skills.

Commissioner Scott Gordon ruled two-year-old Sean Preston and his younger brother Jayden James can no longer hit the roads of Hollywood with their mum after a closed-door, 90-minute hearing in Los Angeles on Friday morning.

Mark Vincent Kaplan, Federline's lawyer, called for the hearing after Spears was caught on tape running a red light with her two children in the back seat.

The new order is the latest blow for Spears in her custody battle.

Paris Hilton shops in China

SHANGHAI, China - American socialite Paris Hilton checked out Shanghai fashions, cuddled stuffed pandas and sauntered along the famous Bund waterfront on Thursday while visiting China's most style-conscious city for the MTV Style awards.

"Shanghai looks like the future!" Hilton said in a news conference at the Hyatt on the waterfront, one of the newest landmarks in a city teeming with new skyscrapers.

The celebrity heiress, author, singer, perfume designer and reality TV star was spending two days touring China's commercial capital before Friday night's gala awards for Chinese style and fashion trendsetters.

A visit to the city's jam-packed Yu Yuan Garden gave her an authentic taste of Shanghai's juicy steam buns and flower tea and the crowding common in the city of more than 20 million.

But Hilton, unfazed by the throngs of onlookers, carried on with her shopping, pausing to hug an elderly lady and to pose in several dresses by Chinese designer Lu Kun, one of the city's hottest new fashion stars.

'Girls Gone Wild' founder claims abuse

'Girls Gone Wild' founder claims abuse

CHICKASHA, Okla. - The millionaire producer of the "Girls Gone Wild" video series has accused guards of abusing him during his brief stay at an Oklahoma jail, a newspaper reported Friday.

Guards at the Grady County Law Enforcement Center denied Joe Francis food and blankets and threatened to strap him naked to a chair for 48 hours, Francis' attorneys alleged last month in court papers seeking his release on bail in a Florida case, The Oklahoman reported.

Francis, 34, was held at the jail from May 17 to June 4 while being moved from a Florida jail to a federal facility in Reno, Nev., where he is awaiting trial next year on a tax evasion charge.

Grady County officials denied the accusations, telling the newspaper that guards never threatened to strap Francis to a chair, that Francis had an extra blanket he shouldn't have had confiscated and that his transfer was delayed because his family had somehow found out when he was to have been moved, creating a potential security risk.

"Mr. Francis was treated like every inmate that comes through the Grady County Law Enforcement Center," jail administrator Shane Wyatt told the newspaper.

Francis' attorneys declined a request from the newspaper to discuss the allegations.

Francis has made millions of dollars with the "Girls Gone Wild" videos, which feature young women in sexually provocative situations.

He has been in jail since April, when he was cited for contempt after yelling at attorneys during mediation in a federal lawsuit brought by women who were underage when his production company filmed them in 2003.

That lawsuit has since been settled, but Francis' bond was revoked on criminal charges related to the 2003 filming when he was charged with having contraband $700 and prescription anti-anxiety medication in the Bay County jail.

Federal officials then extradited him to Nevada to face tax evasion charges.

Nicole Kidman told a courtroom Monday how she was reduced to tears and feared a car accident

SYDNEY, Australia - Nicole Kidman told a courtroom Monday how she was reduced to tears and feared a car accident after a celebrity photographer pursued her two years ago.

Kidman, who divides her time between Los Angeles and her hometown of Sydney, was testifying in the photographer's defamation suit against a Sydney newspaper that slammed him for allegedly hounding the Oscar-winning actress.

The film star, who wore a gray knee-length skirt, cream-colored blouse and pale pink cardigan and had her long, curly hair drawn up in a loose bun, appeared calm and composed during the session in the New South Wales state Supreme Court.

Her poise contrasted sharply with her description of the ride from her house in Sydney to her parents' home in another part of the city for dinner on Jan. 23, 2005.

Kidman described hunkering down in the car's back seat leaning over in her chair in the witness stand to demonstrate to try to avoid being spotted by photographer Jamie Fawcett.

She said the trip quickly turned into a hair-raising chase as a vehicle carrying Fawcett and another vehicle, believed to contain his assistant, lurched through traffic around Kidman's car.

"I was frightened and I was worried there was going to be an accident," Kidman said.

Kidman said she was "really, really scared" during the car ride and that she was "in tears and distressed" by the time she reached her parents' house.

Fawcett, a well-known celebrity photographer in Sydney, is suing The Sun-Herald newspaper for defamation over an article that said he was Sydney's most disliked freelance photographer and was determined to "wreak havoc" on Kidman's private life.

A jury has already found that the article defamed Fawcett. The current hearing is to decide whether the newspaper's publisher, Fairfax Media, should pay the photographer damages, and how much.

Kidman described two other times that Fawcett had allegedly been intrusive when trying to photograph her once while she was on her honeymoon with country music star Keith Urban in Tahiti in mid-2006, and once after Christmas in Sydney last year. She said he was one of the reasons she employed full-time security guards.

"I have been pursued many times," Kidman said. "I have had this happen in relation to this particular man ... so many times.

"I employ people to protect me now. I employ people 24 hours to protect myself because I don't feel equipped to handle things," she said.

By no means, Rihanna is fortunate

By no means, Rihanna is fortunate. One day she was just another beach-dwelling island girl, skipping school and absorbing a mix of calypso, reggae and American hip-hop at the clubs in her hometown of St. Michael, trying to get autograph of some superstar. The next day she herself became one of the most famous Caribbean pop stars and would be sitting in the company of mega music moguls. Besides ripping traditional reggae tracks like a seasoned dancehall queen, the stunning 17-year-old Rihanna possesses a powerful singing voice that conjures up feelings and experiences way beyond her years. By the way Rihanna had won a high school talent contest with a performance of Mariah Carey's 'Hero', her vocal training was limited to singing in her bedroom. 'I would hold a broom like a mike stand,' Rihanna says. 'My neighbors would complain, they always knew when I was home.' Nevertheless, aside from winning her school's beauty and talent pageant, Rihanna never realized how talented she really was. The 17-year-old green-eyed cutie was in the right place at the right time that enabled Evan Rogers (known for work with Christina Aguilera, 'NSYNC', Jessica Simpson, and others), a talented and highly successful pop music composer to spot her powerful singing voice and for him to decide to do something about it. After hearing her belt out a couple of tunes Evan realized Rihanna's future star power and invited her to New York to record some tracks.

It's no wonder that all it took was a quick audition with Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter, President and CEO of Def Jam Recordings, for the green-eyed beauty to solidify a recording contract with the multi-million dollar record company. While that performance ended up changing her life forever, the sweet natured island girl laughs at her own naivet? at the time. 'I was in the lobby shaking!' remembers Rihanna with a healthy dose of her Bajan accent hanging onto every one of her words. 'I saw just a little bit of Jay's face down the hall and I was just like, 'Oh my God! I had never met a celebrity, and to meet a celebrity who's also the president of the label, that was crazy!!' Her obvious talent impressed Jay-Z enough for the label to sign her to a 6-album contract at the young age of 16.

Young and beautiful urban dance-pop diva wanted to concentrate on her music career, so she has moved to the USA in 2005. She credited support from her family for playing a key role in her success so far. Nevertheless, having left her family and friends in Barbados for suburban Connecticut, and not old enough to get into most American clubs, Rihanna is impressively focused. Rihanna is preparing for full-fledged stardom while finishing high school, spending eight hours a day with a choreographer and fifteen hours a week with a tutor amid a globe-trotting performance schedule and recently devouring The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. But she was more than a little giddy when she encountered her idol. And when she says 'I don't even have time for boys!' this is really true, she is more than busy!
